New site design

Well some pro's redesigned our site. What think about it. Have to say they did some strange things to movabletype so I'll have to figure out what all these statics they added are. Let me know what you think.

Main things you'll see are some static pages that are attached to our blog. It goes to show just how blog like I've gotten that when I look at a static page that I can't understand why this isn't just a blog entry with a different template.

Great point Shiraz. What we need to do is to shorten the list from blogrolling. I have done that on http://tongfamily.com so only the most recently changed ones show up.

I'll fix that and that should improve right hand navigition.

The main issue is that this uses bloglines and I'm not quite sure how to fix that. know how to do for blogrolling.

Jian, if you use the Atom feed as you point out you get the full excerpt. I'm kinda reluctant to turn on the full entry since many folks just like the short summary and then they can click.

If other folks want, we can easily make the modification you are talking about. Or, just set the excerpt limit for RSS to 1MB instead of the current 20 words.

The new site does not RSS feed full descriptions, is it possible to do that? I love the articles, but would rather be able to read it in NetNewsWire offline than going to the site all the time.

This link, http://www.webmasterview.com/markup/movable_type_rss_feeds_full_entries, seems to have a fix.

Fair warning, this is not a positive comment on the site design. I don't remember the old site, but unfortunately, it's hard to digest the site right now. I have to force myself to wade through so many pieces on the home page to find anything. The home page is massive with over 20 sections in the main column alone.

Chronological is a convenient organization scheme for authors, but not for readers. Worse, the right column seems to have no organization. I supposed if I looked through all the links I could decipher it, but that's not acceptable.

Sorry, this site design is not conducive to browsing.
